Here is the breakdown
A. Little Support Pass at Blue Line- This little support pass from Perry takes the strong side D out of the equation. His positioning coming close to the puck to make this little pass much easier for Perry to execute. This is a great job of supporting the puck and becoming an option.
B. Puck Protection- As he is driving in watch how the puck moves across the body and is kept away from the defenseman. This skill makes it hard to get the puck off him and makes him a threat to score in tight.
C. Pull Puck Across Net- The move from backhand to forehand is done so quickly and with such control that there is no way the goalie can move laterally that fast. This opens up the whole net and allows him to slide the puck into the wide open cage for a great shorthanded goal.
Being able to protect the puck and drive the net is a skill that many players lack. When players feel confident with the puck and can drive around a D-man they will create more offensive chances for their team. Come work on this skill and many more at The RINK Training Centre
