Shot from the Point

The Panthers save a puck in the offensive zone and it leads to a rocket from the point

Here is the breakdown:

A. Keep the Puck Alive- After the first scoring chance, the puck is moved around the boards. The Florida forwards work to get sticks on pucks and out muscle the NYR players to get the puck back.

B. Seam Pass- Once there is possession of the puck the Panthers get the puck away from pressure with a good seam pass to the point.  This pass gets them a little time in the offensive zone and gives the defenceman a great opportunity to get the puck on net.

C. Shoot the Puck- The D-Man takes one step back to the middle to get into a new shooting lane and with a short backswing, lets the puck go.  The shorter backswing allows for the puck to come to the net faster without giving up much velocity.  The other players know that with the good seam pass the puck will be coming to the net and they get to the net, making it a little harder for the Rangers goalie to make what should be a routine save.

A defenceman who can get the puck thru traffic and get pucks on net is an asset to any team. Having good vision from the point will allow you to create more offensive chances for your team.
