Take it Across the Net

Jones shows what you need to do to score goals

He takes the puck all the way across the net beating the goalie to the far post.

A. Speed Wide on a Defenceman- This play cannot be accomplished if you are not skating.  Speed wide is a threat against any D-man as they are taught to protect the middle of the ice.  Making a D-man turn to the outside will make their job much more difficult.

B. Protect the Puck- Driving wide the puck is placed in a spot where the defenseman cannot get to it.  This allows for the offensive player to keep possession and make a great play on the net.

C. Courage to go Across Net- This play is a tough one as many players don't have the courage to go across the net.  When you can pull the puck quickly across in tight to the net, you have a great opportunity to score.

Taking pucks across the net is something we work on a lot in our Programs and Scoring Clinics.  When you have confidence in tight to the goalie and can make plays like this, you can score some highlight reel goals.
