This is a time for players to improve on the game they already have.
One thing that coaches will look for when try-out and camps come up, is has that player improved. This might mean they are stronger or faster, it may mean they have improved their skills, or maybe their positional play has improved. The bottom line is thru the Spring and Summer players have to use the time to get better. This doesn't mean players have to be at the rink everyday for 10 hours to get better. They can use their time to work on what they need to work on.
At higher levels coaches will tell you what they are expecting from you in the upcoming season, they will recommend what you should do to continue to improve. For younger players, many of those decisions are up to you and your parents as to what you can do to improve.
The bottom line is that players should be improving in their development from one season to the next. Players should be gaining confidence in their game and having fun playing.
Now that there are no more play-offs, players have to stay motivated on their own, they will have to sacrifice things this summer, but with hard work and dedication, players will be rewarded in the end.
At The RINK we look for "Incremental Improvements Daily." We look forward to helping players develop this summer and working with players to achieve their goals.
